The heiress’s room
The eldest daughter was the recipient of the main dowry (financial endowment, livestock and household goods), which the family was willing to offer to a good suitor in order to marry her off to the best possible one; as long as she arrived a virgin to the marriage. Her room was the most closely guarded to prevent the ardor of youth from ruining the entire complex network of alliances between the most important families in the region.
